Leveraging the Agricultural Recruitment System (ARS) as NFJP Grantees
About
The ARS is a part of the Wagner-Peyser Employment Service, which helps agricultural employers find workers in the United States to perform farmwork on a temporary, less than year-round basis. When the National Farmworker Jobs Program (NFJP) grantees partner with agricultural employers, they learn about many workforce challenges, including an employer’s need to find workers. In this webinar, U.S. Department of Labor experts will highlight the benefits of using the ARS.

NFJP prepares migrant and seasonal farmworkers and their dependents for good quality jobs in a variety of careers, in several sectors. Given that the agricultural industry faces complex workforce challenges, many NFJP grantees identified the agriculture sector as a part of their sector-based training strategy. This webinar will provide guidance on leveraging the ARS, partnering with state workforce agencies (SWAs), and writing Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) with SWAs that address collaboration. Additionally, experts will explain how the State Monitor Advocate (SMA) may liaise and advocate regarding partnership needs. More broadly, this webinar will clarify each entity’s role in the process: the SMA, the SWA, and the NFJP grantee.
